The Asian Development Bank (ADB) supported the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Surveillance Process (1998) and the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum (2004) in response to the 1997 Asian financial crisis. Reforms instituted then have strengthened the fundamentals of the banking system, protecting the region during the global financial crisis in 2008 and beyond.

This brochure outlines how ADB is partnering with ASEAN to strengthen regional cooperation and integration to help drive growth, a green recovery, and inclusion. The brochure provides an overview of ADB’s collaboration in Southeast Asia. It shows how ADB is contributing finance, sharing knowledge, and fostering partnerships to help the region address the climate crisis and other development challenges.
