Capturing the Digital Economy: A Proposed Measurement Framework and Its Applications

Off

As countries continue to adopt digital solutions, there is now a need to have a framework to estimate the digital economy.

This report from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) defines the core digital economy and proposes an input–output analytical framework to measure it.

Using the framework to examine selected economies, the report finds that the digital economy and digitally dependent industries contribute a significant portion of gross domestic product.

It also looks at trends, jobs, global value chains, the pandemic, and Industry 4.0.
