This webinar will examine what a safe system looks like for motorcyclists and the elements that can bring the concept to life.

Motorcycles are central to daily mobility across Southeast Asia, carrying workers, families, and goods. However, riders remain among the most at-risk road users.

The webinar will present practical examples of safer infrastructure, road safety rating tools, policy development, and city-level initiatives. Participants will gain insights from Southeast Asian experience, including the work of the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, as well as perspectives from the World Resources Institute and the FIA Foundation. The session will also identify approaches that can reduce motorcyclist fatalities and serious injuries across the subregion.

The session is part of Vision Zero on Two Wheels: Data-Driven Solutions and Policies for PTWs (powered two wheelers), a four-part webinar series organized by the Asia–Pacific Road Safety Observatory, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the World Resources Institute Ross Center for Sustainable Cities. The webinar series examines the data, policies, and interventions needed to protect powered two-wheeler users across Asia and the Pacific. The webinar series is supported by the Japan Fund for Prosperous and Resilient Asia and the Pacific, financed by the Government of Japan through ADB.
