This webinar will examine emerging electric vehicle battery technologies, their commercial readiness, and their potential to accelerate electric mobility in Asia and the Pacific.

The battery is the most expensive part of an electric vehicle (EV), and it is changing fast. Which new technologies will make electric vehicles cheaper, safer, and less dependent on critical minerals?

The session will explore developments in sodium-ion and solid-state batteries and new battery chemistries. Speakers will assess how close these technologies are to commercial use and discuss expected cost trajectories. Participants will gain insights into how battery innovation can address key barriers to electric vehicle adoption across the region.

In Southeast Asia, where electric vehicle markets are growing and several countries are building battery and vehicle manufacturing industries, battery innovation will shape both the pace of adoption and the region's industrial strategies.

The session is part of ADB's E-Mobility Webinar Series, Scaling Electric Vehicle Technologies in Asia and the Pacific, which examines the latest developments in electric vehicle technologies and the technical and institutional foundations needed for their adoption.
