This publication looks at ways integrated and holistic care and support services can underpin aging in place and improve health outcomes.
Asia and the Pacific is a fast-aging region. The number of people aged 60 and above is projected to almost double, from 670 million people in 2022 to 1.3 billion people by 2050. They will also account for a greater proportion of the region’s total population: one in every four people, up from one in seven in 2022.
The publication highlights policy changes Indonesia, Mongolia, and Viet Nam have made to scale up cost-effective, community-based long-term care. It shows how increasing financing and legal frameworks and harnessing technology for digital care and case management can help support caregivers and build the inclusive and integrated systems needed for rapidly aging populations.
