This report from UNEP looks at how the world is adapting to the intensifying impact of climate change.
There is a need to step up climate adaptation finance as the estimated adaptation costs in developing countries are five to ten times greater than current public adaptation finance flows and the adaptation finance gap is widening, says a new report from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
The Adaptation Gap Report 2021: The Gathering Storm says the costs of adaptation are likely in the higher end of an estimated $140 billion–$300 billion per year by 2030 and $280 billion–$500 billion per year by 2050 for developing countries only.
The report highlights the need to bolster efforts in national-level adaptation planning, finance, and implementation worldwide.
