Green and Resilient Ports: Global Lessons for Southeast Asia

This webinar examines how leading ports worldwide are advancing green and climate-resilient solutions, and how these approaches can be adapted to Southeast Asia’s diverse port systems.
Ports are vital engines of trade and development, handling nearly 80% of global goods by volume, but they are also hotspots of environmental and social pressures—from greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution to waste, habitat disruption, and rising climate risks. Addressing these challenges is not only urgent but also presents opportunities to transform ports into hubs of innovation, efficiency, and resilience. Global lessons on cleaner technologies, low-carbon fuels, circular waste solutions, and climate-adapted infrastructure show how ports can cut costs, attract green finance, build community trust, and strengthen competitiveness in global trade.
This webinar is the first in a series that will share global lessons, encourage peer learning, and build momentum for greener, more resilient ports in Southeast Asia. It is organized by the ASEAN Catalytic Green Finance Facility (ACGF), with support from the European Union (EU), and is hosted by ADB’s Southeast Asia Development Solutions (SEADS) platform.
ACGF, an initiative of the ASEAN Infrastructure Fund, is a one-stop platform that helps Southeast Asian governments prepare and finance green infrastructure projects that advance sustainable growth and climate resilience. Jointly owned by ASEAN governments and ADB, and managed by ADB, ACGF provides project development support, flexible and concessional financing, and innovative blended finance instruments to unlock climate finance and mobilize investment-ready projects.
