This webinar will explore how road design and maintenance manuals can guide more resilient road infrastructure investment.
Papua New Guinea sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire and faces some of the most severe natural hazards in Asia and the Pacific—from recurrent flooding and landslides to earthquakes. How can road design and maintenance standards reflect these realities?
This session will present ADB-funded road design and maintenance manuals developed specifically for Papua New Guinea's conditions, addressing the practical challenges of designing, constructing, and maintaining roads across the country's complex terrain and climate environment. The discussion will explore how the manuals incorporate local topography, geology, and hazard exposure into technical guidance, and what they offer as a replicable resource for other countries facing similar high-risk conditions across the region.
The session is part of the ADB Green Roads Webinar Series, which examines how climate-resilient road design and nature-positive construction practices can support sustainable development across Asia and the Pacific.
