This webinar will examine how decarbonization policies are reshaping intermodal freight networks in Japan.
Decarbonization policies are doing more than reducing emissions. They are reshaping how freight moves across networks, and pointing the way to a new generation of green road infrastructure.
Drawing on Japan’s experience, the session will examine how policy measures, including carbon taxes and subsidies, and shippers’ environmental awareness have driven carbon dioxide emission reductions across intermodal transport networks.
The session will also introduce the Autoflow Road, an automated freight transport concept proposed by Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
For Southeast Asia, where freight demand is rising and many countries are making major decisions on road infrastructure and climate policy, Japan's experience offers practical lessons for building greener, more efficient freight systems.
The session is part of the Green Roads Webinar Series, which examines the nature-positive benefits of green roads, highlighting their cross-cutting contributions to decarbonization, climate resilience, water management, biodiversity, disaster risk reduction, construction materials, and inclusive growth.
