The Asia-Pacific Social Protection (APSP) Week 2026 brings together government leaders, policymakers, practitioners, development partners, and innovators to take stock of progress, showcase practical solutions, and co-create pathways toward inclusive, resilient, and sustainable social protection systems.
APSP events in 2016, 2019, and 2023 have been pivotal in advancing regional understanding and action. These events contributed significantly to increased regional awareness on the importance of comprehensive social protection. Facilitating high-level policy dialogue with national governments, they encouraged the integration of social protection into broader development planning. APSP events have supported the development of technical knowledge products and operational guidance that helped shape national programs and informed ADB’s own project design and support.
APSP 2026 builds on this legacy, with a forward-looking focus on empowerment, resilience, and system sustainability, to address current vulnerabilities and to strategically position the region to navigate complex future challenges.
Objectives
- Take stock of the state of social protection in the Asia and Pacific region
- Understand the vision for social protection in the region for the coming years
- Provide a platform for regional knowledge sharing and peer learning on innovations, best practices, challenges, gaps, and opportunities for social protection; and
- Foster new collaborations and partnerships.
