This publication provides updated statistics on a comprehensive set of economic, financial, social, and environmental measures as well as select indicators for the SDGs.
The Asia and the Pacific region faces growing uncertainty from shifting trade dynamics and environmental shocks.
Effective responses require access to data that link environmental pressures to the locations of economic production to show where environmental risks originate, how they move through global supply chains, and where interventions may be most effective.
The report covers the most recently available economic, financial, social, and environmental indicators for the 50 regional members of Asian Development Bank. It discusses trends in development progress and the challenges of achieving inclusive and sustainable economic growth across the region This 56th edition also explores how harmonized environmental-economic data can serve as a public good for guiding cooperation toward resilient, sustainable development.
- Part I. Measuring Sustainable Global Production
Part 1 of the report contains four sections. Section 1 introduces the evolving relationship between economic activities and the impacts of emissions. Section 2 explores how new statistical paradigms, drawing on more granular datasets, can be used to accurately identify the sources and drivers of emissions. Section 3 details analyses for six broad sectoral groupings: (i) Agriculture, (ii) Industries, (iii) Utilities, (iv) Transport and Travel, (v) Services, and (vi) Waste. Section 4 offers concluding remarks and ways forward.
- Part II. Statistical Tables
