For more than a century, economic development worldwide has put an enormous strain on the environment. The relentless use of resources has exhausted the planet, and current consumption and production patterns need to change to ensure a livable and regenerative planet for the generations to come. Transitioning to a circular economy can help promote resource efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainable lifestyles.
This brochure outlines how the Asian Development Bank is working with partners to promote circular economy approaches to strengthen efficient resource management, reduce waste, and drive sustainable development. This includes upstream policy measures and downstream public and private sector investments and innovative financing, along with knowledge work and capacity development to support a circular economy transition.
