This event will discuss the development of digital societies in Southeast Asia and highlight priority areas to strengthen digital integration.

The Tech for Good Institute, in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Southeast Asia Development Solutions (SEADS), will launch a report focusing on the foundations and future readiness of digital transformation across Southeast Asia on 7 April.

The report, Realising a Confident Digital Society: Spotlight on Southeast Asia, examines the concept of a “confident digital society,” including what it means, what it comprises, and how it can be measured.

The event will discuss the development of digital societies in Southeast Asia and highlight priority areas to strengthen digital integration. The discussion will examine how Southeast Asia-6 (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet nam) can deepen digital participation, and build more confident and inclusive digital societies.

The session will explore the following questions:

  • What defines a confident digital society in Southeast Asia, including the pillars that comprise it and the indicators used to quantify these pillars?
  • What is the current state of digital society development in the six countries, including opportunities for growth and challenges to overcome?
  • What are the key focus areas where regional cooperation and digital integration efforts can enable a confident digital society?
  • How can Southeast Asia collectively build toward societies that confidently and actively engage in and benefit from digitalization?
