Exploring Technologies Poised to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Nano, micro, small, and medium enterprises (NMSMEs) play a critical role in driving economic growth, job creation, and innovation across Asia and the Pacific. At the same time, these enterprises contribute significantly to energy use, material consumption, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. For women-led NMSMEs, in particular, adopting clean and resource-efficient technologies presents a powerful opportunity to strengthen business resilience, reduce operating costs, and contribute to climate mitigation.

Technological solutions that reduce GHG emissions—such as renewable energy, sustainable waste management, low-emission transport, and climate-smart production processes—are becoming increasingly accessible and affordable. However, women entrepreneurs often face constraints in accessing information, suppliers, finance, and technical support needed to adopt these technologies effectively.

As the third session in the five-part “Propelling Women Eco-Entrepreneurship into the Future” webinar series, this webinar will focus on practical, market-ready technologies that women entrepreneurs and NMSMEs can adopt to improve operational efficiency while contributing to decarbonization. The session will feature technology providers and users who will showcase real-world applications, benefits, and lessons learned from deploying low-emission technologies in business operations. 

The webinar series is co-organized with ADB under the EmPower: Women for Climate-Resilient Societies (EmPower) Programme, a joint effort between UN Women and UNEP, supported by the Governments of Germany, New Zealand, Sweden, and Switzerland. EmPower is dedicated to empowering women and marginalized groups to take the lead in building resilient communities.
