This webinar examines how countries can widen access to safe, affordable, and reliable transport for the people who are left behind by current networks and services.
Ensuring access to sustainable transport for all is the first of six focus areas in the Implementation Plan for the Decade of Sustainable Transport (2026–2035), and the subject of this webinar. The discussion will examine the practical actions the plan calls for: extending multimodal networks to close first- and last-mile gaps, strengthening rural–urban connectivity, investing in walking, cycling, and public transport that low-income and underserved communities can actually afford, applying universal design, and planning for the personal safety of women and girls, older persons, children, and persons with disabilities.
Speakers will share implementation experience, as well as tools, capacity-building initiatives, and Sustainable Transport Action Commitments already underway.
The session is part of the UN Decade of Sustainable Transport Webinar Training Series, which works through the implementation plan's six focus areas one session at a time, pairing scene-setting presentations with member state and stakeholder perspectives and a showcase of the tools and commitments available to support implementation.
