Digitizing Road Asset Management for Greener, More Resilient Roads

Road maintenance budgets are tight, and networks are aging. But many agencies still decide where to intervene using incomplete or outdated information about road conditions. 

The session will demonstrate how digital road asset management improves survey capture, network visibility, and maintenance prioritization, drawing on case studies from national highways in the United Kingdom, India, Bangladesh, and South Africa. Participants will gain insights into how better data helps agencies intervene earlier, extend asset life, reduce waste and resource use, strengthen resilience to climate and service risks, and build clearer evidence for funding decisions. 

For Southeast Asia, where road networks are expanding rapidly, and many governments are making major decisions on maintenance funding and climate resilience, these examples offer practical lessons for getting more value and extending the life of existing roads.
