Ming Tan, founding executive director of the Tech for Good Institute, says micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises must be part of the fight against climate change.
The Climate Battle: How Technology and Businesses Can Make a Difference
Southeast Asia is home to 71 million micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), making it imperative to include these businesses in the fight against climate change and in advancing inclusive development, says Ming Tan, founding executive director of the Tech for Good Institute, in this episode of Experts Talk Solutions interview series with podcast host Sothea Ros.
Southeast Asia is among the most climate-vulnerable regions so it must be prepared to cope with the impact of climate change, Tan says. At the same time, with its fast-growing population, the region needs to advance an inclusive development agenda. "That takes energy. So that balancing act is really quite challenging," she says. "The only way we can have that development agenda is to include the micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises."
