Digitizing visitor registration data and tracking the collection of environmental user fees in real-time using smart technologies could help the Island Garden City of Samal better manage tourism.

More than 50 tourism officials and business leaders joined a seminar in Davao del Norte on 9–10 November to explore how the Island Garden City of Samal could improve tourism management by digitizing visitor registration data and tracking the collection of environmental user fees in real-time using smart technologies.

The Department of Tourism Region 11 Director Tanya Rabat Tan chaired the event. The Asian Development Bank's (ADB) regional technical assistance Southeast Asia Sustainable Tourism Facility, funded by the Republic of Korea e-Asia and Knowledge Partnership Fund and Spanish Cooperation Fund for Technical Assistance, organized the event.
