After COP26 in 2021, many Asian countries echoed western governments on the need to find pathways to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 or beyond.

Pathways include adopting carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies to reduce emissions of hard-to-abate sectors. There are estimates ASEAN countries will need to apply CCUS technologies for 85% of coal power plants and 91% of gas power plants until 2050.

The 3rd Asia CCUS Network Forum will look at global trends and examine case studies on the use of such technologies and will look at initiating a pilot project in ASEAN to improve understanding and raise awareness about CCUS. 

The forum provides a platform for policymakers, financial institutions, industry players, and the academe to work together to ensure the successful development and deployment of CCUS in the region.
