What is SEADS?

The Southeast Asia Development Symposium (SEADS) is the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) annual flagship event focused on helping spur growth in the region. SEADS provides a forum for leaders from governments, the private sector, academia, and development organizations to discuss innovative solutions and strategies to address development challenges facing the region.

What is #SEADS2023 about?

Countries in Southeast Asia are committed to net zero targets by 2050. SEADS 2023, “Imagining a Net-Zero ASEAN,” will examine how countries in the region can harness new green, innovative, and cost-effective approaches to support decarbonization in a wide range of sectors while revitalizing economies.

Who can attend #SEADS2023?

Participants from ministries of environment, planning, transport, agriculture, economy and finance, science and technology, trade, commerce, education, and other agencies that are closely involved with development, innovation, and in meeting ASEAN’s net-zero goals may join the forum. Key leaders from the private sector, academia, civil society, and development organizations may also attend. Young professionals, students, and other interested parties are encouraged to participate. A total of 500 in-person and over 5,000 virtual attendees are expected. 

When is #SEADS2023?

This year’s SEADS will be held on 30 March. SEADS will be a hybrid event, with attendance open both virtually and in-person. SEADS 2023 will coincide with the ASEAN Finance Ministers’ Meeting.

Where will #SEADS2023 be held?

SEADS 2023 will take place at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia.

How can I join #SEADS2023 in person?

Since there will be a limited number of slots open to in-person attendees, those interested will need to go through preregistration and screening. An onsite registration link will be sent to participants who were approved during preregistration. Results of the preregistration will be released starting 10 February. Preregister here.

Until when is preregistration open?

Preregistration for in-person attendees is open until 10 March, while virtual attendees can register until 30 March.

Do I need to pay for in-person participation?

Registration for both online and in-person attendance is FREE. Airfare and hotel accommodation fees and other associated expenses will be shouldered by the participant.

How can I attend #SEADS2023 virtually?

Participants can follow online interactive sessions and live Q&As on the SEADS event platform. All information and links to join the sessions will be sent by e-mail. Access to the SEADS event platform will be available 5 days before the event. Registration is free and open to everyone.

Can we register as a group?

No. We encourage everyone to register individually.

What will happen at #SEADS2023?

#SEADS2023 will feature a power-packed lineup of thought leaders, decision makers, and influencers from governments and international institutions who will share insights and recommendations to help Southeast Asian countries meet their net-zero goals. On the agenda are plenary talks, multisector panels, and workshops that will foster a rich exchange of ideas and innovative solutions. In-person participants will have the opportunity to broaden their network and deepen connections with experts, as well as potential partners, and clients.

Will the sessions be recorded and streamed?

All sessions will be made available through the SEADS event platform the next day and via the SEADS YouTube Channel.

Who will be the key speakers and panelists at #SEADS2023?

Speakers will include leaders from governments, industry, academe, and civil society organizations. Names will be announced soon! View SEADS2022 featured speakers.
