Selected companies with AI-driven technologies that can help rural communities build climate resilience have a chance to secure one of the four $50,000 seed fundings offered under the AI for Climate Resilience in Rural Areas Innovation Challenge.

The challenge is under the Moonshots for Development (M4D) initiative and sponsored by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), in partnership with the Inter-American Development Bank Innovation Lab, the World Bank Group, and the World Food Programme Innovation Accelerator.

The challenge is a collective effort by M4D partner organizations to scout and scale AI-driven technologies that can empower rural communities and help them adapt to and build resilience against climate change.

Apart from the equity-free seed funding, the selected teams will be provided with coaching, mentoring, and access to networks essential for bringing their innovation to scale.

The challenge focuses on agriculture, natural resource management, and disaster risk reduction. It encourages a responsible and ethical use of AI, or artificial intelligence, and fosters collaboration between innovators, development practitioners, and local people to nurture long-term climate resilience.

Deadline for application is on 13 October 2023.
