Infrastructure Investments, Schooling, and Structural Transformation in Development: Evidence from Multi-Generation Tracking Survey in the Philippines

1 June 2021
10:30 a.m., Manila Time

Reducing rural poverty is one of the priorities of the Philippine government. This webinar will look at how agrarian villages have benefited from investments in infrastructure, education, and industrialization based on a study by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The study uses 40-year-long dynasty panel data from the Philippines combined with long-term satellite imageries and public administrative data on school openings to measure the impact of village-level school availability and higher exposure to newly constructed highway and industrial estates.

ADB Chief Economist Yasuyuki Sawada will share the study’s key findings.

The webinar is organized by ADB's Economic Research and Regional Cooperation Department and the Southeast Asia Regional Department.
