This report shares insights on economic corridor development (ECD) from a forum, discussing how ECD can help diversify trade, cut costs, and support regional growth.
Economic corridor development (ECD) plays a crucial role in promoting regional cooperation and integration. Success will inevitably increase connectivity through trade integration and infrastructure development, which will eventually lead to stronger regional economic growth.
On 5–7 September 2023, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) held the 2023 Regional Cooperation and Integration (RCI) Conference in Tbilisi, Georgia. The theme was Strengthening RCI through Economic Corridor Development (ECD).
The conference highlighted lessons from how ADB-backed subregional cooperation programs have designed and implemented economic corridor development initiatives. Sessions also discussed development partner support and considered tools for assessing the costs and benefits of economic corridor development. Conference sessions highlighted lessons learned.
