Digital Jobs and Digital Skills: A Shifting Landscape in Asia and the Pacific
This report examines how employers in Asia and the Pacific now want new hires to have higher digital skills, like digital design, data analytics, data science, machine learning, and programming.
The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated digitalization trends and even affected the way employers hire talent. A survey of employers in Asia and the Pacific revealed that 75% of employers in four countries now have increased demand for new hires with digital skills.
This joint report from the Asian Development Bank and LinkedIn focuses on three sectors of growing importance: renewable energy, e-learning, and smart cities. It draws on LinkedIn data about jobs and skills in Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines, as well as Australia, Singapore, and the United States.
The report includes recommendations on how policymakers and education providers can help promote skills that will support high-growth industries and quality jobs.
