Ehtisham Ahmad will share his insights on the use of digital technologies in national tax systems and the importance of a coordinated approach to policy and administration.

Ehtisham Ahmad, an internationally renowned scholar on tax reforms, will share his insights on the use of digital technologies in countries' tax systems and the importance of a coordinated approach to policy and administration.

Over the recent past, Ahmad has been directing a program at the London School of Economics on sustainable transitions in the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and Mexico. The work on PRC was co-financed by the United Kingdom's Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and formed inputs for ADB proposals for the Chinese 14th Five-Year Plan. His work on Mexico was background to the comprehensive tax reforms undertaken in 2013. He is currently working with ADB on the Medium-Term Tax Reform Agenda for Sustainable Development in the Philippines.

Ahmad previously worked at the International Monetary Fund's Fiscal Affairs Department and as special advisor to the Saudi Finance Minister.

The event is an initiative of ADB's Asia–Pacific Tax Hub and the Public Sector Management and Governance Sector Office.
