Health Sector Net-Zero Solutions—An Opportunity Hiding in Plain Sight
The session explored shifting to renewables and net-zero healthcare, embracing circularity, greening the supply chain, and producing low-carbon meds.
With the health sector contributing nearly 5% of net global emissions, the industry needs to decarbonize and do its share to neutralize climate impacts on human health. Decarbonizing the sector could entail shifting to renewable energy, embracing the circular economy model, adopting net-zero healthcare, greening the pharmaceutical supply chain, and producing low-carbon pharmaceuticals.
This session, Health Sector Net-Zero Solutions—An Opportunity Hiding in Plain Sight, at the Asian Development Bank's (ADB) fourth Southeast Asia Development Symposium (SEADS) explored the role the health sector plays in the climate crisis and examined how the industry could achieve net zero.
