Meeting the Word's Midcareer Moment

Midcareer workers face strong and unwarranted challenges in seeking or switching work—including bias from hiring managers, increasing job requirements, and hesitancy around training—despite their performance being highly rated by employers.

This report analyzes the results of a global survey—the first of its kind—of thousands of individuals aged 45–60 seeking or working in entry-level and intermediate roles, and of the employers who hire them. The insights are consistent across all seven countries (including India and Singapore), highlighting an unexpected shared reality.

It proposes four steps to address this problem, involving governments and policymakers, global multilaterals, training providers, and employers.
