Transport leaders and stakeholders are set to meet on 21 January 2021 for the 24th Meeting of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Subregional Transport Forum to be hosted by Viet Nam. 

The forum has the theme “Forging Greater Transport Connectivity Toward the Visions of GMS–2030.” 

Objectives

The virtual forum will review the subregion's pipeline of transport projects under the GMS Regional Investment Framework 2022 and examine member countries' response and recovery program for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Participants are also expected to review the progress of the Cross-Border Trade Agreement “Early Harvest” program; discuss initiatives to improve road safety regimes in GMS countries; review initiatives on railway planning and financing; among others

Participants are also expected to receive updates on the work and plans for the Greater Mekong Railway Association as well as the activities of development partners in the GMS transport sector.

The forum will be attended by senior GMS officials in the transport sector and representatives of development partner organizations, private sector, and the Asian Development Bank.
